Cappadocia

Welcome To Cappadocia

History

Cappadocia is a region in Central Anatolia in Turkey, largely belong to city of Nevşehir. Fantastical volcanic formations and interesting history meets here.

Human settlement dates back to the Paleolithic period in that region. During the Roman and Byzantine periods, Cappadocia became a refuge for early Christians.

Christians escaping from the pressure of the Roman Empire carved houses and churches on the rocks. From the 4th to the 11th century, Christianity flourished here; most churches, monasteries and underground cities date from this period.

Landscapes

Due to its inland location and high altitude, Cappadocia has a continental climate. Summers are hot and dry, winters are cold and snowy.

Known as “beautiful horses land” Cappadocia’s famous fairy chimneys were formed in millions of years. The soft layers of volcanic lava and ashes were eroded by rain and wind and the interesting rock formations of the region have been formed. The Cappadocia region generally consists of wide valleys with these volcanic formations.
