History

Istanbul, which has a long history, was the capital of the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire until it was conquered by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1453. It belonged to the Ottoman Empire until the Republic was established in 1923. For this reason, Byzantine and Ottoman influences – especially in historical buildings – are abundant in the city. Those who want to trace the history in Istanbul should definitely visit the historical peninsula. It is possible to see many architectures belonging to the Byzantine and Ottoman periods in the historical peninsula surrounded by the Golden Horn, Marmara Sea and the Bosphorus. The famous historical buildings such as the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Spice Bazaar is located on this peninsula.

Connecting Asia and Europe, this magnificent city contains stunning historical buildings on both sides.
